idling, rear view, season four, season one
hitting the road
~ NOW ~
This is boiled down to a short version in the blog’s “About” page. You could read that and skip this.
First, just so you know, I’m the type who will ignore buckets of fake spiders when necessary. (Heck, I am the woman who can argue that “Bugs” is an AWESOME episode.) The point is that I enjoy liking the show. To each his own, but it’s not fun (for me) to let the shortcomings and limitations overshadow the truly wonderful elements in the show. Because of that, I don’t envision writing detailed play-by-play episode recaps. If I had to think too hard about Sam walking into Samhain’s white blast and then attempting to take him out by throwing a punch instead of, oh say, attacking with the knife!, I would miss out on the deliciousness of Sam walking unscathed into the white blast!!

While the blog is new, my passion for the show is not. And, thankfully, I’m not alone. Good friends have joined in the fun and helped the various threads at icine grow to the point of being a bit unwieldly. Unless you have lots of free time, I don’t suggest wading through that non-linear, untagged jumble. (See icine.org forum links in the sidebar if you dare.) But some of it is worth putting into an efficient format for sharing. So, one goal for this blog – besides following the show forward from this point – will be to organize about a year and a half of Supernatural postings tucked away in the forums at icine.org.
My default mode is to remain spoiler-free. I’ll talk about everything that’s aired. I love to speculate about where things could go next and where they might end up down the line. But I like being surprised about how the show brings us the story. Please keep spoilers out of your comments. If you join in on the forums – we’d love more voices – there are spoiler tags to hide info about what’s yet to air.
I’m an even bigger fan of Sam and Dean – and John (yes, I think John too often gets a bad rap) and Bobby! – than I am of the actors. I’ll go see My Bloody Valentine 3D for Jensen Ackles, but it’s Dean I’ll really be hoping to see, at least until I get to know Ackles’s Tom. I love that the interviews and articles I’ve seen are consistently positive about our guys in real life. It’s nice to think we’re watching genuinely decent men who care about the work they do, and I get the impression that the entire production shares that reputation. I figure the people who bring us the show do not owe us their private lives though, so I generally avoid gossip and speculation about real lives. Since I like my illusions that the Winchesters ARE real, too much of the guys who give them life is a mixed bag for me.
On a final note, this blog is hosted by icine.org, a site geared for 13+ year olds. Adult language or ideas will probably make occasional appearances. Please do comment to let me know if you see that becoming excessive.
