Crud Campaign January 20, 2007

 Spencer Krug from Sunset Rubdown

Alright you Winchester Skanks, this is blog war. I begin my campaign!

Spencer Krug’s other Montreal-based band Sunset Rubdown (live)

I’m not very good at describing music, but it’s a great mix of the piano, synthesizers, guitars, tight percussion and god knows what other funny instruments plus Krug’s unique warbly vocals. If you’re open to a little indie (and no indie is not always a dirty word) give Sunset Rubdown a listen. A little more soulful than Wolf Parade. MP3s on request.

Pro Krug evidence #1 Stadiums and Shrines III

Pro Krug evidence #2 Us Ones in Between

Pro Krug evidence #3 Swimming

And I haven’t even brought the big guns (accordion) out yet

I like Us One In Betweens the most. And then Swimming. Great clips.

8. fleaonaleash - January 22, 2007

Glad you liked them! I still like the grandiose of Stadiums and Shrines best, but his piano work on Swimming and Us One in Betweens is amazing.

14. fleaonaleash - January 24, 2007

Excellent! Have you seen them live? If you hae I might have to hurt you in a rage of jealousy

15. miscreation - January 24, 2007

I’m listening to the Shut Up I Am Dreaming record for a second time, and I really, really, really like it (really!). A bit more than the Wolf Parade and Swan Lake stuff. The EP is also good.

16. fleaonaleash - January 24, 2007

Yay. I’m actually listening to Sunset Rubdown practically all day now.

? I’m “outgrowing” Wolf Parade a little bit myself. I’ve ordered a few earlier Sunset Rubdown solo discs along with Shut Up I’m Dreaming. Can’t wait.

17. acapelli - January 24, 2007

I still prefer Wolf Parade and I passed up a chance to see Sunset Rubdown last fall.
