So I saw the Arcade Fire tonight…

…and they were fantastic. I even got myself a t-shirt. The songs worked really well in the context of a live show. Here’s what they played (in no particular order):

Keep the Car Running
Neon Bible
Black Mirror
Intervention
Black Wave/Bad Vibrations
My Body Is a Cage
No Cars Go
Windowsill
(Antichrist Television Blues)
The Well and the Lighthouse
Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)
Haiti
Rebellion (Lies)
Poupée de cire, poupée de son

One thing I noticed, and something that I notice at all shows I go to, is how much people like to brag about who they’ve seen live. This is especially bad in a city like NYC, where everyone supposedly knows everyone. It just reminds of the LCD Soundsystem song “Losing My Edge,” where James Murphy spouts off lyrics like, “I was there at the first Can show in Cologne.” It’s all very funny to me.

Now here are some mp3s!

Arcade Fire – The Well and the Lighthouse

LCD Soundsystem – Losing My Edge

Mp3s are only up for one week and for sampling purposes only. If you support the artist please do it by buying the record, going to their show, and/or buying their merch. And if you’re the owner of the file and would like for me to remove the link, please contact me here.

Hello New World

Hello new world, here we come
On them Twinkie tres, with the hood screaming
“We on our way!”
Can’t forget where I come from
So I extend my hand to my man screaming
“I’m on my way!”
Yes I rap, but best believe
Them things still get wrapped by Papi screaming
“It’s on its way!”
I can’t wait for the next nigga
From my hood to say “Lookout World
I’m on my way!”

More to come…
